Default Moving concerns and have few questions

We are going to be moving within the next week and a half to a new home. Iím looking at transporting both my squirrels who are both separate cages double stack critter nation cages down to our new place. However they would be in a newly remolded home and trying to find out if there are any curtain things I need to worry bout as far as them staying there a few days by themselves without us there as we are back and fourth moving. I plan to still do my best to give them their veggies each day although itís about a hour drive to the new location. Is there alternatives I could feed as far as a few nuts Henryís blocks and the other healthy blocks I give them just those couple of days.? My husband will still be there daily finishing construction so he will be able to check on them each day but trying to make it easy for him as far as feeding goes as they are not big fans of him. Are there any things I can do to make the transition smoothly for them and will they be ok unattended? They are both at least a year old. Anyone whoís moved their squirrels to a new house anything I need to watch out for as far as behavior ext. any advice really would be helpful. I have to move them as Iím being threatened by my current in laws that they may report them if they are not moved so I donít have much options as I wonít be able to live down there and move them when we move due to that and I need to do what I need to do to protect my babies! Help!

Is there a refrigerator in the house? I would make ziploc baggies of their daily food and put it in the refrig.
Is hubby sleeping there? He could put a daily ration in the cage each day. He could put it in the cage after they go to bed or before they wake up. I would definitely have cage covers on top and two sides to lessen their stress over the new location. Just a thought.

Yes we have a fridge and I thought about making a few days worth their veggies to swap out each day he isnít sleeping there but he is there daily from about 6am-9pm so at least he can check on them and I figured swapnout veggie and didnít think so when sleep that would probably be easier so they donít try to attack him. I planned on keeping blakents on their cages like they are used to each night being cover up at bedtime and not so much during the day but to not stress them I can definitely leave them kinda covered they will both have their own rooms that are of course heated and just want to make sure they can sleep there a few nights by themselves as we would be back first thing in the morning. As far as when we go to transport to new house I planned on keeping them in their cages and just cover them up so hopefully that wonít freak them out to much. They would only be probably staying along as far as just at night for about two separate nights until we are moved and sleeping there

I have no idea if this would be feasible for you but... just throwing an idea here.

When we moved I had arranged to have everything taken out of the room my fuzzers were in - we did that ourselves, but you could arrange something I'm sure. Then I closed the door, left them in there with a note on the door that said: PLEASE DO NOT OPEN, DO NOT GO INSIDE THIS ROOM!

I arranged for the movers to pack all the stuff from one of the bedrooms LAST. Which made it easy once at the new house: they put all the stuff for that room into the new bedroom at the new place. Soon as that room was done, I placed the fuzzers in that bedroom, and closed the door with the same instructions on the door.

We then finished moving the rest and my guys were calm as could be that night. No fuss, no muss... we were all stressed out (after an 18 wheeler packed to tight you could not put a sheet of paper more in there, 16 hours of loading and unloading), dead on our feet and my babies seemed as fresh as little daisies, like nothing ever happened.

My sweet Scooter, my darling Hami... YOU brought that magic in my life. You've changed the way I see all things around me now and, because of you, I want to be a better person. This is not goodbye, my sweethearts. You be at peace, your work here on earth is done now and you can enjoy your freedom. We'll meet at the Bridge again some day... and I will always love you.
