    Default Gabapentin question

Hi, I posted a short while ago about my squirrel that was biting himself quite badly, we made an e-collar for him (thanks to the great template shared on this on site!) and it prevented him from reaching himself, so he healed pretty well. We were advised to try gabapentin which we did - my squirrel is on it once a day, and started shortly after wearing the e-collar. However, when the collar got a bit tatty, he managed to reach himself again and re-bit! We've re-made his collar, but was wondering if anyone would know if it would be safe to up his gabapentin dose to a more effective level. I know that in humans the dose has to be tried out (raised and lowered) till an effective dose is found, don't know if it's the same with squirrels! - don't want to give him too much, but it would be a huge shame also if he starts biting again when the collar can come off! (he's paralysed in his back legs, but does just fine otherwise!!)
All help and advise greatly welcome!! Many thanks!
