    Exclamation Dextrose dose needed

I've just had a very cold baby brought in to me. I've searched but can't find a dextrose dose. Is 5% acceptable? I am warming baby before fluids. I don't have access to pedilyte right right now.

Are you asking about orally providing hydration fluid?

Do you have access to salt and sugar for the di it yourself hydration fluid:

    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar or apple juice
    • 2 cups warm water

I was thinking more for SQ fluids right now. We use dextrose 5% in other mammals......soooo....I didn't want to make him worse. I don't believe oral is a safe idea right now due to his condition .

Improving with warmth. Apparently this little one may have been out in the rain all night.
