Question Baby Squirrel Fell out of Tree

I noticed a baby squirrel fall out of a tree in my yard about a half hour ago. The tree was only about ten feet high. What should I do, let nature take its course (let it die and get eaten by a bird) or try and help it somehow??

No please don’t let predators get to it!! Are you able to observe and give time for mom to hopefully return? Are the eyes open? Are you able to post a pic?

He looks too young to me to just be left on the ground waiting. Can you repost in life threatening section with the photo to get a quicker response? I don’t want to advise wrong but I think he needs to be wrapped up while waiting. Is he wet from what you can tell? He looks wet to me. Are you able to watch from a distance not to scare mom away?

It is best of you can place him in a box at the base of the tree he fell from and get him warmed up.

You can place rice or dry beans into a sock, tie it closed and microwave it a minute or two. Squish the rice/beans around to distribute the heat and make sure it is not too hot. This "rice buddy" can keep the little guy warm while he is waiting for mom.

If he fell from the nest while mom was out foraging, then she'll be back and get him.

If something happened to mom, baby squirrels driven by hunger and thirst will leave the nest and seek out help... from people, dogs, cats... whatever or whoever they come across.

If she does not come back, here is a 6 page primer on baby squirrel care:

I followed your instructions and kept a very close eye on him but I think he must have been internally hurt because he just died. Thank you for all of the help .
