Kevin, I put some arrows on the pic to things I'd like you to look at and possibly clarify. These little white specks...dried skin, dried formula, fly strike, food bits?

I feel that the bump under his ear is clearly an abscess and my gut is telling me the one on his back is as well.

There highlights on fur. The skin is soft with no crusting.

    I’m in Seattle, Washington.

I just did a shout-out to one of our members in WA state who is a fantastic rehabber. Hopefully Duckman will be on soon.

There is a licensed rehabber that trained under us, who is located in Kirkland, WA (and is also a member here (HRT4SQRLS)). I am going to notify her of this post as well. I am certain she can help this one. If she isn't able to, I will try to help myself, but am in Vancouver.

I can guarantee that HRT4SQRLS will NOT Euthanize your baby. Please work with her and follow her instructions. She trained under us at Squirrel Refuge (www.squirrelrefuge.org) and we are proud to say she was able to gain her rehabilitation license last year!

On a side note, so far, we have not had a single case of Squirrel Pox on the West side of the Rocky Mountains. Thankfully!!!!

    Kevin,
Her phone number is is 206-353-2111. Give her a call, these referrals are coming from experienced squirrel rehabbers who are well known here on the Squirrel board. We can offer advice based on your descriptions and photos but that is no substitute to getting this little squirrel seen in person by an experienced squirrel rehabber.

I talked with the Rehabilitator and she is coming over tomorrow with Clavomox and maybe a pain killer if we lance at that time. Can anyone think of anything else we might need? I’m picking up saline solution tonight and I’m going to use a warm compress on the abscesses. Thanks again for all your help.

A cleared space that has been sanitized to work on the squirrel.

Towels to place beneath the squirrel, wash cloth, and .

A camera to take photos so you can record before and after if you desire.

Check with rehabber for anything they would want in addition.
