Penis is red
A pinkybwas brought to me today with a red and irritated penis. I’m assuming he has been self suckling, but I haven’t seen this before. There is no blood and he does pee, but I want to make sure it’s nothing else. I put neosporin on it and but on a little belly band to cover it so he can’t suck.
Can you confirm this is from sucking and it’s not something else?

Each time you feed him, use a warm water compress on it to make sure the tip is open, without scabbing, so that he can pee. The redness will subside on its own if there is no more trauma to it.....but if a scab closes the opening he will be in serious trouble. Poor lil guy. This is a VERY common issue with baby squirrels.
