I am trying to determine the age of my baby squirrel. I'm guessing he's around 8 weeks now? Can this be determined by his weight? He weighs 93g. Thanks for the help!

Oh we used to go to the Kennebunk Inn and loved it!
I would think he is about 6 to 8 weeks. How did he come to you?

He was one of 5 babies running around chasing and playing with us when we were out doing yard work in our backyard... thought it was odd that mom wasn't around but they all went back inside a tree so I thought they would be ok. Long story short.. I did tons of research that night and in the morning realized they needed help but only found two I got some great advice from the lady I spoke with at Henry's Healthy Pet and did everything I could to save poor Kiko, Hammy's brother but unfortunately he passed I've had Hammy for 3 weeks and he is doing wonderful. I have learned so much through this and I am now studying to get my wildlife rehab lisence and I will also be volunteering in the clinic at a wildlife rehab center in the area starting in a couple weeks! My husband is helping me build an outdoor enclosure, I want to specifically rehab squirrels. I'm just so nervous that someone will find out in the process of getting my lisence that I have Hammy. I wouldn't want him to be taken away hes doing so great here!

In Maine in a rural areas the squirrels will likely also require a full chain link surround for the release cage. Years ago I recommended to a squirrel rehabber in the upper Midwest, that they put the entire cage within a chain link surround for a litter of red squirrels they had rescued, because the rescue site was in the wild, not where they lived that wasn't squirrel habitat. Though initially they chose not add the full chain link surround, just use the compartmented cage they had made for the reds; upon a visit to bring them food at the release site that was at the edge of the forest, they saw a badger chewing on the cage to get in. If they hadn't arrived when they did, they told me likely the squirrels would have been injured or perished. After that they added the full surround chain link enclosure that thankfully kept everything out so that all the squirrels made it to release.
