Default Needing help with new found baby

    Hi all!
Yesterday I came across a baby who is about 4-5 weeks old. He was severely dehydrated and covered with fleas. We have cleaned him up, kept him warm and he has been taking the pedialight like a champ!! I have even gotten him to pee and poop. (Graphic) his poop has been hard and soft. Should I be worried about the diarrhea or is it just because he was dehydrated? My second question is, now that he has some fluids in him when should I start giving him formula? It’s been about 12 hours since I’ve found him. Any suggestions or helpful tips are welcome! Thanks in advance!

He will need powdered puppy esbilac, 1 cc syringes with nipples,
and you will need a weight on him in grams to figure out how much to feed, so you'll
    need a gram scale.
I believe right now the poop is hard from dehydration and the soft,
    from being re-hydrated.
Never use the pedialtye for more than 24 hours.
If he needs hydration after that you can give him water with a touch of honey for taste.
Warm everything before giving it to him.
If you pull his skin up on the back of his shoulders, does it stay up?
    Can you post a photo?

Here's a link that will be very helpful
It's 6 pages long with the next button in the top right hand corner.

Here's the formula that you'll need.

Yes, if he’s no longer dehydrated you can begin the formula. Go slow with the feeding so he doesn’t aspirate. Definitely use a 1cc syringe, for the same reason. If you don’t have one you can ask a pharmacist for one, just tell them you’re feeding a baby kitten, they’re usually more sympathetic to that.

Syringes and miracle nipples can be ordered online at Henrys Pets.

I’m not sure if my picture posted. But yes we punches his skin when we first found him. It stood straight up. I can’t even pinch his skin anymore so he is dehydrated I believe! I’ll go and look for the formula today. Is it expensive do you know? Thanks!

You must get that specific formula. It’s not cheap but for now he has to have it. You can order it online in the future and it’s much cheaper. Pet stores like PetSupermarket and Petco have it (not PetSmart) and you can also find it at Tractor Supply Stores and some country feed stores.

Did you mean to say he was dehydrated or rehydrated?

Would you like us to try to find a rehabber for your little one?

I think she is near Momma's Munchkins! I will PM her to read this string and offer to help.

Unless one of the cities I checked earlier is wrong,
I thought they were close to 200 miles away.

So frustrating when members come on with an emergecny,
her post was answered 3 minutes later, and she goes off board
at 10:13 while we are trying to help.
