How’s your girl doing? Does the nipple make it easier to feed her? Sometimes it can take a little while for them to get the hang of it.

    Exclamation Re: pneumonia

She looks to be in extremely critical condition. It does look to be severe bleeding in her gut.

It would be helpful to get pictures in better lighting so we can see more details and color of the stools. And a picture of the entire baby, her whole body.

I have to wonder if she is having liver issues, she looks yellow. Are her eyes opened? If so is the area around the eye yellow and not white?

    What color is her urine?

Is she still getting Cipro? That can cause severe diarrhea... have you been giving any sort of probiotics before or after the antibiotic / Cipro doses?

This baby is critical. Would you be willing to hand her off to an experienced rehabber or can you take her to a vet we recommend??

Can you give us an update? How’s your little girl doing? Is she still bleeding? Did she take the yogurt?

I am posting some pictures for the finder for more eyes to see. The first picture is of the baby’s genitalia after a warm soak to remove dried blood. She had been applying triple antibiotic salve. I recommended using a cotton ball or make up brush so the scab isn’t disturbed and can heal. I made her aware to look for scabbing that would prevent the baby from urinating. The yellow appears to be a new scab maybe? How should she treat?

The second and third picture are to get input on whether the baby is bloated plus to show what she thinks is a swelling or lump on the right side of the body. We need some opinions, please?

At the moment, she is being given water in place of a feeding because of suspected bloat. She has done the warm water soak with massage and given one drop of simethicone. The baby has had bloody loose stools. She is no longer giving the antibiotic after 5 days of Cipro and a large initial dosing of amoxicillin. Yogurt was also given to help coat the intestines.

We are looking for some opinions and advice on how to move forward, please.

Mel, thank you for all you are doing.

Is the vulva scabbed or is this crusted stool? If crusted stool, that's an easy fix. I recommend warm water cotton ball to cleanse and stimulate genitalia to avoid abrasion as well.

As for the mass in the abdomen, it could be a hematoma, intestinal malfunction, gas, stool, an organ, etc, etc. It's so hard to tell.

I'm not sure how long this baby should be without food if she has diarrhea. I think I would try to feed her again, a small amount --1 ml, and pay attention to milk line and changes in appearance of abdomen after a meal and if baby can digest. Can finder take a belly photo prior to meal, immediately after meal, and at one hour marks for three hours. It would help those of us who are having a hard time with this one assess the situation.

I am helping finder with bloat issues and feeding issues. This is a picture of last nights poo. No more blood. The baby has also peed. She has been told to work back up to full strength formula gradually with smaller feedings closer together.

Thanks to NINY I have passed on the name of a rehabber close by for her to contact.

The second picture is baby after feeding last night before pooping.

Are we sure no more blood? That looks like bloody mucus to me. It's a blurry photo, though. I'm happy baby is working up to full formula feedings, very slowly, and that things are moving.

Mel, thanks so much for your help with this little one. Since we don't hear much from OP on her thread it's been a real life saver that you have taken the time to go above and beyond off of the board and in your personal time. You're amazing and appreciated!

No problem. I’m glad I can help. I’m sure the finder is exhausted trying to work through all the issues this little girl has had.

Here’s a current picture of this mornings stool.

It's not straight blood but looks like blood tinged mucous. Not sure where else the reddish brown color would be coming from. Improvement for sure. I'm looking forward to seeing some beautiful yellow solid poops from this baby.

I think the reason it looked so mucousy is from the triple antibiotic ointment I've been keekeeping on it

Thanks for the update. Her bowel movements will be yellow. That’s the formula color. Mommy color is black. Keep up with the feedings like I suggested.

Sorry I’m late telling you this, but sometimes it’s best to write everything down in a journal like the date, baby’s weight, changes to diet, changes in pee and poop pattern, etc. that way you can go back and see what change was made that had a positive, or negative, impact.

Let us know how the rest of the day goes. And if you call the rehabber.

Update- she is doing much better than she was last night I've been mixing the formula/water 80 /20. She is peeing she is crawling around feeding every 2 hrs the first time she could only take 0 .5, the second she took 0.6, third 0.7 so Im letting her move at her own pace.
