No expert here, just passing on this information.

I encourage our members to share their successes here from having used specific homeopathic remedies for specific ill health conditions. Also from having used (non toxic) herbs (more potent sources) for rodents for specific specific ill health conditions with specific dosages.

We had a wild with an abscess; a rehabber advised giving the squirrel a drop of homeopathic remedy, "Gun Powder". It was amazing how quickly it opened up the abscess to let it drain. All I had to do was to put it in tiny bit of water and place a drop of the dissolved tablet onto a nut and make sure the squirrel took it.

The same was used for Ms. Diggie when she had a infection. Having seen with my own eyes it work twice, I have no doubt it is a viable option to treat abscess especially in a wild that capturing may not be an option. If though there is a foreign object in the wound it may be needful to remove it before the infection clears up. Still the body in many cases may be able to expel the foreign object through the abscess when it breaks.

" 'Gunpowder" Homeopathic remedy. Squirrel Wildlife Rehabber, "Shirley Casey", has written an article on the use of this specific remedy. Sulfur is a natural antibiotic, yet the natural form not reduced is toxic. The homeopathic source is vastly reduced so it isn't toxic.

Darn, I was unable to use any of the links listed here for homeopathic remedies. Please tell me where I might find them.

I have a squirrel with what I think is a bacterial infection and Id like to find something to treat him with.

I thought his dose of antibiotics killed it but its back.

Don't know what happened there; sometimes when I have copied and posting they don't work anymore.
See if these work for you; I checked each one after I put them on and they worked.

Look for list under G and you will find the remedy entitled: "Gun Powder" the lower dose is 30 C. so you will need to give it twice a day at least four hours apart. It is hard to believe something that is diluted as much as this is works, but it does. Our local rehabber was right to recommend using it for wilds that otherwise cannot be captured. Diggie our yard squirrel had babies at the time, which wasn' tan issue for her to be given a homeopathic remedy as an AB might be for her nursing young. Nothing to lose I thought to try it; thankfully it did help her.
