    Default Cat food

My squirrels seem to be loving my cats food. I can’t get them to stay away from it when they are out running around the house. Is this okay for them to eat?

    Default Re: Cat food

I asked this question last year when my overwinters discovered the ferret food and wouldn't leave it alone. I was told it was not okay. Cats and ferrets are obligate carnivores and their food is too high in protein.

I simply removed it altogether from their environment while they were out. Just another thing to hide.

    Hope that answers your question.

Cat and Ferret food not good over the long term plus they are eating from a bowl that has cat saliva in it

For some squirrels that absolutely won't eat rodent blocks / boo balls in any form this will work and is not too bad - its better than cat food (but expensive). Karen Clark swore by it and she and many long lived NR's.
