Default Cruiser DUDE in BIG DISTRESS Jan 19,2018

This morning Cruiser's cage was spattered with blood--LOTS of it. I don't know when it started, but he was up & on his log inside his cage when i entered his room this morning at 5:30 am. His paws and right eye were really bloody as well as a thin red line on his chest . It might all have come from his nose, as he rubs it quite often due to his odontoma. He also shakes his head a lot to clear it of mucus and if his nose was bleeding, that would account for the blood splatter. I fear it is quickly progressing to advanced/lethal stages.
He is now sitting on the floor, breathing slowly. He NEVER just sits on the floor. He did eat a few almendras that I opened for him. I am trying to stay calm and be close to him. But I am really getting worried.

After sitting on the floor for 30 minutes, Cruiser did climb up on the branches in the Tree Room. Still lots of breathing difficulty but he has had similar issues for a long time. It's the BLOOD that is new--- & quite upsetting. It has NOT been bleeding for the past 2 hours. I never saw any active bleeding. It all occurred before I removed him from his cage.
Any Prayers offered for the DUDE will be gladly accepted.

    Thank You
Prayers are what he needs most. Last January (2017) the DUDE had several terrible days, and I really thought it was his last days. I prayed that Cruiser would get stronger and see another birthday. WELL_ he did make it another year. His birthday was 2 weeks ago ( I guess I should have prayed for 5 more birthdays). maybe he will get past this scary morning...I don't know. I only hope that when his final day does come, it is fast, and without stress or pain. He is the BEST little guy in my CREW.

    I HATE ODONTOMA !!!!

ATTENTION all members that have dealt with odontoma in their squirrels.
I am hoping to get FEEDBACK regarding the start of bloody discharge.
Is this a passing thing --or does it mark a steady decline.
I just want to be aware & prepared for the inevitable.
My buddy-CRUISER--and I will fight --as is needed.

Thanks for the PRAYERS and good wishes....

Cruiser ate some breakfast and we dosed him with Tramadol. He is resting quietly. He looks weary and the sparkle is out of his eye, but we pray he gets more active as the day progresses.

Oh sweet boy. Feel better—for you and your loving folks. If only we could teleport Dr. E down your way. Odotoma are EVIL but your love has carried him through crisis thus far and if love can make him well, he’ll be dancing in no time. Sending loving prayers for you all. Cruiser

stosh, you said that he paws at his face a lot.....I wonder if, in his sleep, he really gouged himself either on the gumline or even his eye. Facial injuries bleed like a sunofab*tch because the skin is thinner there. Poor sweet Dude.....

    Cruiser Dude

I am praying for Cruiser Dude, he is as fine of a squirrel as has ever existed!

Stash, can you gently clean him up with a soft, wet, warm towel? Try to find where the blood is coming from? I think it would be much better if it is from an external cut (under eye or mouth) but if so, that also might indicate how much pain CD is in. If the blood is coming from his nose or mouth than I would thank that might mean the Odontomas have really progressed? That is a lot of blood in those photos, the sinuses in the nose are rich with blood vessels which is why nose bleeds can produce some much blood.

Praying for Dude, Stosh and Rama Momma.

I was looking at the pictures and look in his right ear is there a small cut in the center of it?
Would not explain the heavy breathing but hoping it is not his teeth.

    Hugs to you all.

Poor Cruiser! Can you gently start cleaning him up with some warm water under the guise of stroking him? Maybe use a small piece of washcloth or something so you aren't dripping water all over and just slowly begin cleaning him and examining him to see if this is perhaps something surface hidden in his fur or if it did indeed come from inside his nose.

Let him rest as long as he gets some food and water - he lost a pretty goodly amount of blood and needs to recharge.

WE did give the DUDE a "sponge bath" to remove the dry blood and to see in some wound had escaped our eyes. He looked fine after the washing.

The DUDE spent some time this morning...laying flat out--on his belly--on the floor.
    THAT--is very unlike him.

Cruiser went into his nest box...and then a little time later...got up and just rested his head on the side of his box. Then when I started to rub his head---he didn't budge...Normally he would jump and move away. It scared me.
