I agree with you,yet I have read that chicken leg bones could be given to squirrels to help file down their teeth,

I give my squirrels beef/pork rib bones a lot of them
chew down the center to the bone marrow.
I wash them off and get all the meat off for the
greys and leave some meat on for the flyers.
Chicken bones are scary!

We've only given our animals beef or venison bones. Pork can be brittle in the weirdest places, and is discouraged from giving for the same reasons as chicken bones.

I will stick to deer antler's and tree bark.

I'm with Step, no chicken bones, but you can get the beef soup bones at the grocery store really cheap. I let my dogs eat all the marrow and whatever tissue is on them, then let them dry for a few weeks and then give them to the squirrels, they love them.

Cross sectioning antlers, not splitting them longways, is needful to avoid allot of splintering. Bolling them after cross sectioning them supports the destruction of possible harmful organisms that they may contain.
