Question I thought of a question.

My almost 6 week old babies are getting Ebsalac with pre and probiotics at a 2:1 ratio of powder to water. I want to add yogurt to their diet. My question is, do I add it directly to the 2:1 ratio or do I give it separately? From what I’ve read, they get like a quarter of a scoop full. Is that correct? Also- should I be giving Tums as a preventative?

    Thanks in advance.

You can add yogurt to their diet though it's not really necessary.
We typically include that when making the temporary goat's milk formula.
If you add yogurt to their formula I would do just a touch, like you said, ~1/4 scoop
(from the esbilac scoop in the can) and make sure it's
    really blended in well.
When they are on formula there is no need for additional calcium through the tums.
Actually later, if they are on a good quality rodent block and eat their healthy veggies
there is never a need for additional calcium. Just follow the chart and try to also follow the
calcium to phosphorous ratios chart as well.

Are you doing two parts powder to 1 part water?

There is Redhill Farms Whole Fat Goat Kefir that contains probiotics.

It only has a tiny bit of natural sugar (lactose) 5 grams per cup, that comes to 312 mg per Tbsp. which is less than one third of 1 gram. It is oh so creamy; just be sure to shake it up well and let it settle a bit before using it.

You would want the formula to be at the same ratio,
otherwise it will be too weak or too strong.
So mix the formula... and then add the yogurt.

I would add very little yogurt at first,
because dietary changes always cause upset tummies,
and never add so much yogurt that it is more than 1/4th the total mix.
