Thread: Are you serious?

    Default Are you serious?

Lol so "Lucky" is doing great, hopping all over eating alot, gaining weight etc. Im super happy. Anyway today here in Palm Harbor we finally got our hurricane debris picked up. Wife was observing it on our security cameras. Then all of the sudden the crane operator stops and gets out and walks over to the debris he was picking up. She tells me he stopped and is looking down at the debris pile. First thing I think is, crap some type of babies.

I walk out, ask him whats up? Some animals in the debris he said. I walk over quickly fearing the worst and it happened. The crane claw had grabbed thru a nest on the ground. I looked down and it wasnt our beloved squirrels we all love so dear but I saw those huge ears and realized they were baby Eastern Cottontails.

4 of them. The crane de-capitated one, squished another, paralized the backs legs of one, and one got away unharmed. I grabbed the paralized one "accordingly name "Pari" now and the healthy one "Fatty" and took them in just now. When it rains it poors i guess in the animal helping business. So now instead of minimal sleep Im gonna have no sleep. lol

So I need a favor, Im in Palm Harbor and I need a couple sealed Miracle 3cc syringes if someone can spare them. I dont want to risk any underlying possible diseases with the two species. I can paypal you asap. I just ordered a few from online but they take too long to get here. Please let me know if you can help. Heres a pic of Lucky and Pari and Fatty.

    Thanks Ted

Wish I was closer. Have you seen the wheelchair somebody designed for a baby bunny? I think it's on YouTube.

Sorry, don't have 3ml sealed syringes. I realize they probably need syringes of their own but have you checked to see if they really need to be sterile? They are so very lucky the crane operator even saw them...
Hope they do great for you!

I just like to be on the safe side with being sterile but might not need to be. I just try to avoid any possible thing that would have an unknown bad issue. Paranoid I guess.

    Thanks though Lynn!!

Hi Ted! I just hopped on (no pun intended lol) to take a quick look & saw your post. Cute little bunnies! I live in Palm Harbor (they havent picked our hurricane debris up yet, but I'll have to look thru it now). I have 2 new sealed 3cc syringes you can have. I will be up at Tarpon Springs High School tonight (West of US19, close to Alt 19), so if it's not too far & you can meet me there I can bring them for you. Let me know. I'll be there around 7:30pm to 9pm. Jenn

So, the healthy one Cottontail is doing great pooing peeing and taking formula, hopping all around however the paralyzed one is not peeing. She poo's tiny specs and drinks, water, formula but no pee!!! Because of her condition I soak her in warm water and she LOVES it but no pee. Anyone have any insight? of all the animals here she is the only one who constantly licks me with affection. Just want her to pee!!!!

If you feel the abdomen of the other one the urinary bladder or perineal gland is soft and mushy, but on the paralyzed one its much harder. Maybe dehydration? Any insight? The Grey and other bunny are doing great, Ill be damned if I cant get her healthy too!!!!!

    Thanks guys

Is the bladder hard like full of urine. If so, you must express it or it could rupture. Very often lower half paralysis can cause inability for animal to empty bladder or to even feel that they are full. Have you ever done it? We've got a lot of mom's of paralyzed squirrels who do it. Hopefully someone will be on soon to give you pointers. I think you're going to have to try it, though, if it's rock hard.

not really the bladder i think, it almost feels like a hardened vein about an inch long, might be, but not sure. ill post pic. Its where the black line is. Harder than the other one's. Im hoping the paralyses issue isnt causing a pee issue. Name: 20171019_203824.jpg

Ok, well good. But do keep an eye on that bladder, now that you say she's not peeing.

Start a new thread in the emergency section titled something like, paralyzed and can't pee, help! or full bladder, can't urinate!
