    Default Hey y'all, I'm new

Hey y'all. I'm a proud new squirrel mom from Atlanta Georgia. My baby Timmy is about 81/2 weeks. He's an eastern grey and a very handsome boy! Timmy was mistaken for leaves in the gutters and it wasn't until he was about to be bagged up that my husband noticed him. I sprung into action while waiting to see if squirrel momma was going to come back. I read the blogs, forums, medical sites, Henry's squirrel page etc. I feel like I did a great job dedicating myself to his recovery and the tools needed to get him there. Yesterday however he came down with pneumonia, but because of this blog I was able to identify it quickly and we have been to the vet. He is taking clavamox, I know there is a debate about clavamox and baytril, so I hope this works for him. I already see improvement as he is eating and yesterday before the meds he was not. Please wish us luck and a speedy recovery. I just absolutely Timmy and our bond is amazing. I'm excited to have found this board and community of fellow squirrel lovers. I look forward to learning from you all and showing you cute photos of my little man

    Welcome to TSB.
Clavamox is a great choice for pneumonia as is Baytril.
I think we all agree on that.
    What are you feeding him?
Did he aspirate? Can you post some pictures of your little darling?

Sounds like Timmy was lucky and landed in the lap of a great "Mama". My Ruby has just turned nine weeks old so I have a good clue as to what's happening at your house! Keep us up on how he's doing, post lots of pictures, and if you have questions or concerns please voice them. What one person is not familiar with others will have an answer for. Welcome to The Squirrel Board!

He is getting Fox Valley 20/50, but he's weening off. He's been introduced to 7 veggies and lettuces and he gets 2 squirrel blocks from Henry's. I also give him a million kisses a day!
He did aspirate 2 days ago I believe. He was sucking in formula so hard and choked a little and it bubbled up. He's done that before and I've flipped him upside down and wiped his nose etc, but I guess this time it was too much. I felt so trrrible because I kind of thought we were out of the "woods" pun intended. After he survived the initial 48 hours after I got him, he was 4 weeks old with eyes closed, I thought our thoughest times were behind us. But it's been a few hours since he received his first dose of clavamox and he's drinking formula again and ate squirrel block. I'm feeling a little relief that he's regaining some of his behaviors. Yesterday he was just breathing hard, panting and looking very distressed.
Thank you for welcoming me! Here's a pic of my baby Timmy and Myself! Name: IMG_8954.jpg

Kisses are an important of daily squirrel diet. One million is sufficient but it's okay to give more as needed.

He's just dreamy. It sounds like you've done your homework and an amazing job with him. I'm glad you have a vet, it's such a load off your shoulders when you have local help. Keep us posted on his recovery!
