    Default Kay tee blocks

Does anyone know if kaytee blocks provide vitamin d and calcium? Or should it be added?

Kaytee block are complete nutrition. They need nothing added. They should be 80% of your squirrel's diet. The other 20% can be veggies, fruits, and nuts as treats.

Unfortunately, while Kay-Tees are the most easily available rodent block, they are not the best. Mostly they're made of corn. Try ordering Teklad Growth formula 2018 on Amazon, or the Ox-Bow for rats, or even Zupreem primate chow. All have higher nutritional value.

Yup Teklad is what Mel1959 swears by.
If you see the difference in Joey, you'll know why.

I have used Mazuri for years and I have raised 100's of healthy babies on it.

Also, if all you can get are Kaytee blocks they would be better than not feeding block at all.

Harlan Tekland are the best but must be ordered online. Yes, Kaytee has corn as the first ingredient but Harlan Tekland's second ingredient is corn. So not as much corn but not by much. No question it is better. Mazuri rodent block can be purchased at Farm and tractor stores in 25lb and 50lb bags. They are also available in some Petco and PetSmart stores in 3lb bags but cost more, of course, than the larger quantities.
