Does anyone else's squirrels "howl"? It's not a squeak... Or a bark but like a long howl?

Does it sound like this?

Basic squirrelese:
"Chuck - chuck -chuck" means 'excited'.
A lot of very fast chucks means "run!" Sometimes they add a "squerble-werble-erble" noise as they run.
"Chuck - chuck - squee" means 'danger on the ground', and they hang pointing down at the danger.
"Chuck - chuck - whine" means 'danger in the air', and they put their back against a tree.
A long 'squee' without the 'chuck' noise basically means 'very unhappy' or 'upset'.
I have heard this noise from squirrels in release cages who are very frustrated that they cannot get out and explore.
And males who have been firmly rebuffed by a female.
Actually.. I think I have made the same noise myself.

No. It's not like what was in the video... It was longer...I think it was bc I had his sister out feeding her and he was all alone... Haven't heard it again since putting her back...lol
And thank you for the squirrel interpretation... Haha

Just once. A long mournful howl that made my hair stand on end. I can hardly recall it without feeling sick. It was mourning for a very dear friend like a keening.
Is this a female or a male squirrel?

I have a female and male. The female did it briefly. But the male is the one that did it the longest. I think it was bc I had her away from him, feeding her bc once she was back with him.. He didn't do it again. They're brother and sister..btw.
That's so interesting. Come to think of it I NEVER feed one out of sight of the other. I don't think mine were ever apart while I overwintered them except when one would escape their room and I had to go wrangle him/her up. How sadly sweet.

They also make a little “mmeeeeep” noise sometimes. I think it may mean: I am content?
