They love their new home!!!https://youtu.be/9ALjjjGHgao
Look at those little hot shots.
Just a suggestion with the bungee.
Pull it all the way up so that you make
just one elastic strap, with the plastic part right near
the clip. Then pull the clip through the top of the cage for
the correct height.
This way the plastic part will be on the outside of the cage,
and hopefully they won't chew it off.
Do they have a cube to sleep in.
They LOVE fleece too.
Do you sew? You could also make them a bungee which
most squirrels love.
They are darling and they have gotten SO big.
Nice job there mamma!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you it's amazing how fast they grow!! They have a fleece pineapple hut/cube its being washed lol. I'll fix the bungee. I can do basic hand sewing. I'm gonna make another fleece rope tomorrow. I'm also going to wrap/braid some fleece around the wood poles so the can grip it better. They are so funny. Lona loves fleece so much when we put them in there she rubbed her face and body along the bottom of the cage like a cat. Lol

Best guess they are 8 weeks. Yes these are my first. We received them on august 12 and they opened their eyes August 23.

They are fascinating little critters. I've owned a lot of different critters. Cats, dogs, ferrets, chinchilla, mice, hairless rat, snake, lizards. I'm sure I'm forgetting something. They all are equally quirky and unique.

You have done and are doing an amazing job with these babies!! I love their new home. I am so impressed with your rehab skills. I have apprentices that I wish had more of your caring touch and practical sense. You are always willing to listen and take advice. Thank you for taking incredible care of these precious babies. Great job!!

Thank you. These babies wouldn't be doing so well if there wasn't all of you wonderful people on the board who take the time and more to help those who need it. All I knew about squirrels before was that the had sharp teeth and were fun to watch. I knew that babies of all species are hard to care for. It would have been wrong and irresponsible of me not to search out how to care for them. I just want them to thrive. They came along at just the right time. I'm a stay at home mom and my daughter just started back up School a week after we received them. I was dreading having both to do till she got home. lol

So Lona is constipated. Yesterday I had a hard time getting her to poop, she finally got it out this morning but there was some blood in it and it seemed to hurt her when she was pushing it out. I've been giving her some apple juice since yesterday to try and help soften her up. Now she's back to refusing to poop. She's chattering at me and running away. I'm about to try and soak her in some warm water to see if it helps. I'm assuming part of her problem is she started to eat her hhb block instead of just shredding it. Is there something I can give her to help her go. I'm afraid if it keeps hurting to poop she's gonna refuse to potty and there getting difficult to hold still. I'm assuming the blood was because her poop was hard and because she held it so long. ugh so I have one baby with to soft poo and one who is constipated.
Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that Lona is constipated. Which formula are you feeding them again? You can try giving her water inbetwen feedings to help get things moving. If she won't take it plain, you can try adding a little honey to the water to encourage her. Hope she will be feeling better soon.

I soaked her in warm water and she was doing fine but after 5 mins she freaked. I tried to wrap her in a blanket but she kept trying to get away. I put her and the warmed blanket in her hut and she climbed out and started doing this. She hasn't fallen or anything like that. Is this just from being wet? Like when dogs rub on everything?https://youtu.be/yq3PoDmv-68
Well from what I can tell from the video, it does look to me like she may be just trying to dry herself off because she is grooming herself as she goes along. My little Ana accidentally ended up with her hind end in the dogs water dish and she was obsessively grooming for quite sometime afterwards. They do not like to be wet, that's for sure! If she is still walking like that after she is dried, that would be a cause for concern. These little ones sure can give us grey hairs from worry!
