It's always possible to have a runt. The baby could also be a dwarf. Dwarf squirrels are a genetic mutation. They do have physical and medical characteristics that make them look different. It may not be possible to see the difference yet if they are very young. Typically dwarfs have bigger eyes and their ears sit lower on their head. They have shorter legs and tail. They can't climb as well and are usually very picky eaters. If you could post a picture it would help, but as I said it might be difficult to determine yet. A dwarf won't grow at the same rate as a normal squirrel.
