Fallen babies...help needed tonight

Witnessed two babies fall just now. I collected and hung in a basket in tree. Mother wants them, but Sun is setting and she is scared. I can tell there is one remaining baby in drey. How long do I leave outdoor tonight??

I think you can only leave them out till dark. Mom may not come for them after dark. If you have to keep them overnight, keep them in a bin with a heating pad under half set on low. Lots of fleece. How old do they look? You should get up before daylight and get the babies back out wherever you found them so mom can collect them. Put them in a box where she can see them and retrieve them. When you are trying to reunite you must watch them from a distance to be sure no predators come around.

When you try to reunite, play this recording if you can.

She was seen earlier. I put them in drey. I'm hoping it was the right decision. I'm so conflicted!

Don't second guess yourself. Mama squirrel raising her babies is always far superior to anything we do. If it was the wrong decision you should get another chance tomorrow. The babies will leave the nest and come down. If that happens I would take them inside and raise them.
