    Default Baytril for pneumonia?

I have a juvenile squirrel that appears to have respiratory issues, maybe pneumonia. Breathing pattern is different and you can hear noises when you hold him close to your ear. I gave .05 mls Baytril last night and this morning, also SQ fluids twice and he is eating formula again. I just lost the brother, he was to far along. This one, Darrell, weighs 135 gms. I also have access to smz/tmp. Thank you.

Someone should be along to check your dose, but what is the strength of your Baytril?

Wild Mammal Babies concurs with that DAILY dosage for a 135g baby; giving half that dose twice a day renders "better therapeutic effect", if you want to do that.

Sammy's mom, I had to go to work for a few hours, so I am not sure of the strength. 22.7 seems to stick in my head for some reason.
Island Rehabbed, okay I can split the .05 mls dose in half and give every 12.hours? I just need reassurance I am giving the correct antibiotic as well, please.

Remember to also give probiotics 2 hours prior or after dosing antibiotics.

If that's the strength your dose is correct.
    Is this injectable?
Yes you would give .025 if you split the dose and give every 12 hours.

Yes, it is injectable. I am giving it orally. Thank you Nancy. I am doing everything I can think of, but please, anybody give suggestions.

Can you post a video? You can put it on youtube and put a link to it here. Be sure to make it public though. I forget all the time. EVen a picture might help. You can text either to me at 203 214-7427 if you are not sure how to do it.

If giving Baytril orally, pull up the correct dose first, and then pull
up some sort of flavored suspension or maple syrup.
    It can "burn"/irritate their mouths.

I use SMZ 2xs a day and piggy back the Baytril one dose a day. There is a lot of banter that Baytril can cause "issues" with babies. The SMZ is great for respiratory issues the give a little kick with the once a day Baytril. I had a vet prescribe it this way several times
