    Default Bloat!!help!

I got this guy in on Sunday. He was very emaciated. He started getting snuffly yesterday and he was put on cipro. Now he has bloat. I don't know if he's been pooing in the cage because he's with five others. When I stimulate him he won't go. I've tried running warm water over his bottom. No luck.

What do I do? I have a Jed here called ovol. Will that work? It is expired though. Like four years expired.

Oh. He's about six weeks old.

What formula are you using, how much at each feeding and how much does the baby weigh?

I don't know about using the expired Ovol. Baby gas drops (simethicone) can be used. For bloat I don't just run warm water over them but rather soak them up to chest level for several minutes and continue to massage downwards and inwards to encourage a bowel movement. You can also try different methods of stimulation as some have their preferences. Cotton swabs or a child's paintbrush dipped in warm water or even a finger tip may work.

Ever see pics of cute babies and you find yourself making an audible gasp??? This little one just did that to me. What a beautiful baby!!! Great pics btw! Hair does look kind of off, like hydration that is.

    Either that or bed head.
Sort of reminds me of the way I wake up.
I think extra hydration is good after the bloat,
    get all the yucky's out.

Yeah, his hair sticks out there. He's very emaciated. He was bony when I got him in on Sunday and has eaten minimal until now that he's better. He's packing it on quick too. His hair is a little oily there too. He needed a bath. I didn't want to give him one in fear of him getting chilled on top of his pneumonia. He looks much better now. Actually those pics are a huge improvement of what he looked like before.

There were three brothers that showed up together. All bags of bones, cold to the touch, dehydrated and sneezy. One had a bloody nose. That one didn't make it. The other brother bounced back quick, ate like a champ and is doing great. This little fellow didn't want to eat much. The only way I could get him to eat was to put a tiny dab of peanut butter on the tip of the sirynge. And then it was still minimal what he ate. Not now though. He's making up for lost time now!
