    Default UTI or on heat?

Hi. Our girl (hudson squirrel) is 1yr 11 months old. Today we noticed that she was crouching as though wanting to pee, but nothing was coming out. We're not sure whether she could have a UTI or be on heat?

We haven't been able to see if her vulva is swollen, although it appears to be a little red. She is also rubbing against furniture/the rug quite a bit. She's also cleaning and scratching herself more than usual, although we think it might be because she's shedding her winter coat.

Would appreciate any advice on what to do.

Carmen, there is a good chance that she is in heat. Spring is in the air.

I would observe her closely for any signs that it might be a UTI as a 'just in case'.
If her urine is cloudy or smelly, she might have a UTI but my first thought is heat.

Mine is acting the same way. How long do they stay in heat?

    How old is your squirrel?

Our Fox squirrel's heats progressively got longer as she aged. By 7 they lasted up to 8 weeks,

occuring regularly in mid summer and again in late winter.
