Hi All:
I got a call from a woman who is further north than I. She called because one of her wild squirrels (that she feeds) showed up with a missing ear, swollen head and a bad cut on his/her leg. She said she is a Vet Tech and if I could advise her, she'd do it on her own.
So she went to the vet and got Baytril and Metacam. I am unsure how to dose him because of 2 things, 1. Baytril are pills 22.7mg, 2. She can't get a weight on him. She feels he is smaller than other squirrels, but not sure.
The vet, whom I had to call since they at first refused to give her the meds told her to quarter the pill and give him/her 1 a day.
I know we can't be exact, but what do you guys think she should be dosing this Squirrel. Here are the pix she got for me. I know they aren't the best, but can anyone help out with proper baytril/metacam dosing?
