    Default Bloody stool

I have an 8 week old flying squirrel who has suddenly devolved bloody diarrhea. His entire bottom is covered with blood. He looks like he feels fine, and he is acting pretty normal. What should I do?!

So sorry to hear this! Can you tell us exactly what she is eating, how much and how often?

He is eating 1-2 cc. 4 times a day of ebsilac goats milk for puppies. Also, we are offering him broccoli, pear, apple, mushrooms, orange, and yogurt. He only eats a little amount of these. He seems to be doing good except for the bloody diarrhea and a strong odor

What was his stool like before this? Was the blood bright red or dark, almost black color? We have a wonderful member who is not often on the board, but is very available via phone. 832 4011084
Can you go get regular Esbilac puppy? The powdered that has probiotics in it. You are probably going to need to change from the formula you are using. How long have you had him?

Before the bloody diarrhea, it was a dark brown or a dark green. It varies. Two nights ago he had a little diarrhea, but today was the first time he had the blood. The blood started out a bright red, but then it turned a darker red. I have had him for 6 days.He is acting normal, except for the blood.

Hello! What an adorable baby! He needs yogurt and cream in with his formula. Flyers need the additional fat and calories unlike regular grey squirrels. He could have burst a blood vessel. Is the blood just coating the poops (usually a thick mucous-like consistency) or is it IN the poop too?

Yes I think it's a bursted blood vessel. He is doing much better now!
