I am currently rehabbing 8 grey squirrels. 6 of them are around the same age. 2 of them are sisters and they both have blue eyes. They are not blind. In all my years of doing this, I have never seen this. Any experts know about this?

When I first got them, they were so emaciated that I didn't think they stood a chance of surviving. But thanks to TSB, I followed directions and pulled them through. Then after their eyes opened,I thought that they were blind because of their rough start, but then I realized that they are just beauty queens. Here is a picture of the condition that they were in when I recieved them and the Squirrel Board saved their lives!!
wow! beautiful! Many of the black squirrels I've rehabbed have navy blue eyes. I wonder if this is a type of dilute form of that -- your baby may carry the melanistic gene.
What a miracle you performed to save these babies, rocketj....

If it wasn't for this site, I don't know what I would do! And I thank you all so much for your advice! I don't normally post, but I do ALOT of reading and taking notes! I have never seen a black squirrel, except in pictures, but once when I was in my 20's......a million years ago, I saw a white squirrel sitting on a fence post....in Alabama! I thought they only lived up north. But at the time, I didn't know know anything about squirrels, except that I yhought that they were so neat!
What are they eating? I suspect that it is due to the bad start. Light eyes are often a product of malnutrition but can correct with proper diet.
They are on fox valley 20/50 plus heavy whipping cream and plain yogurt. And Oxbow young mouse and rat food and Henry's healthy blocks for baby squirrels of all ages. I also have given them apples, califlour and broccoli.
What a wonderful job you did!
And what absolutely beautiful eyes!
Thanks everyone! If it wasn't for y'all, I wouldn't have a clue! I live in montgomery,al and I have contacted 3 people from the state asking how and what I need to do to learn and get schooled on how to get a rehab liscense and no one has emailed me back. I don't have a college education, so maybe I don't qualify. Well, still, if there is a critter in need, I'll help and if it is more than I can do, then I'll contact someone who knows better!
I was just about to start a thread about what colour my babies eyes should be? Then I saw this thread! They just opened their eyes on the weekend, and they are the most beautiful colour of blue I have ever seen!! I keep trying to look at them in different lighting to make sure I'm not crazy! They are mesmerizing! Such sweet boys - will look so deeply at me... it makes my heart sing. Speaking of singing, when I have to stimulate them to pee after eating, and they get a little anxious, I sing to them and they settle down instantly. Its so funny! lol Been singing to them since I found them. Trust me, I'm no Beyonce!! lol
