So glad to hear the bleeding has slowed down and Peter is doing better! I'll keep my fingers and toe's crossed for him! Oh, and lots of prayers!
THERE IS NO BLOOD IN THE POOP!!!!!!!
I never thought I could get so excited over poop, but let me tell you that I am sooooooooooo haaappppyyyyyy!!!!!:wott
He ate 12ccs arounf 2:30, and the poop was normal shape, size and color.....the only thing intersting is that I looked through his poop thourghly, and I found what appeared to be a piece of wood, or feather??? I have no idea really what it is....but at least it is OUT OF HIM.
Still no improvement on his leg and tail, but with this amazing group here at TSB, I bet it is possible!
Yay! "Clean" poop!
happy poopy dance!!!!!

Actually, I was going to post again tonight.......he is doing great as far as eating, peeing ....etc......but his poop has turned BIG again, like it was when he started to pop blood the first time. However, there is NO BLOOD, BUT it is so so so dry, it reminds me of horse manure that has been in the sun for a few days. It comes out like that. It even has the same texture as horse manure. Doesn't make sense. He is hydrated, nad still on SMZ. I was going to stop it yesterday, but then this started, so I am guessing he still has a sort of infection.
On another level, he is using his back leg alot now...which I am so thankful for. But his tail is still limp. He can raise the hair on it when he gets excited, but that is all. Anyone ever dealt with this before...(the poop issue????)
Hey....I am a rehabber.....also he has no problems getting it out, and he is not in pain like before. I give mineral oil when they are constipated, and only then a tiny drop. Anyway, just can't figure out why it is so damn dry!
My wild mammal babies book says to keep babies well hydrated when on sulfa drugs (SMZ is a sulfa drug I think) so maybe it makes them dehydrated, and that is the problem? Not sure, just a thought. I always give my creatures a little extra fluids when they are on sulfatrim. Do you give the little guy extra fluids, or just his milk?
SQUIRRELS RULE AND BUNNIES TOO!
Actually, don't mind one bit! I know quite a few people who aren't rehabbers that know alot more than me.....I appreciate ANY advice! Thanks!
No oil....if it gets in the lungs the squirrel is a goner. I don't want to take that chance.
