It's true, ButchKin's timing was right on!

Those little birds all gather near the back door and wait for me to toss out nut crumbs, lol!

Exclamation Re: Scrawny Guy & Butch, the one eyed wonder boys!!

My new eye injured one finally came back this morning. I recently discovered my current crew of young ones go CRAZY for these little tangerines, so I've been putting out cut up pieces along with the avocado I put out. My eye injured one was eating tangerine, and when I opened the back door, this sweet one came running up to me, and took a Picky Block. Poor baby, the eye is already changing color. Time will tell how bad it is, hopefully not as bad as Peepers, whose eye sunk down altogether.

I hope his eyes heals. I have often read that citrus fruits are not good for rats, mice, squirrels to eat? I can't confirm but maybe someone else can comment on this?

TD, I need to find out! I've been finding little bitty tangerines on the ground in my backyard, some bit open and some whole, like an animal is getting them off a neighbors tree, which is why I started putting some out for them.

ANYONE ELSE HAVE INFO ON TANGERINES FOR SQUIRRELS??

Any input on my squirrels eating tangerine wedges?

It's either my squirrels or some other animals finding them on someone's tree, because I'm finding pieces in my yard. Is it bad if I sometimes put some out for them??

CSL it's not bad for them.... I use to give them to Baby...until she decided she didn't like them anymore...Fluffy Biscuit likes them although I don't give them large amounts...just like any other fruit...moderation

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

Here's Mr. HT (Mr. Head Tilt), he was here today. Overall, he's definitely had improvement, but it's when he is facing me directly, and tries to look up at me, when he has the most difficulty moving his neck/head, and sort of looks up at me sideways. I really think this all stems from that big cyst thing he had on his neck or shoulder quite some time ago. He seems perfectly fine, like a totally normal squirrel, except for the inability to totally turn his neck or head a certain way. Other than that, he really seems totally normal, and I have to say, he's seriously one of the sweetest squirrels ever. I just adore him, he comes running to me when he sees me, even comes running up to me in the doorway. He's so sweet.

I was hoping he'd stay and eat, not just take something to hide, so I half cracked open a big walnut, which made him pick a spot and eat it, LOL!!

HT is really quite a beautiful guy! I wonder if maybe he got a bone injury that had an abscess for on it. Maybe the abscess went away, but it was a permanent injury to a bone.

oh, interesting, maybe. I do wonder, I'll always wonder what happened to him. He's so sweet, and thankfully, seems to be doing well.

Was gone most of the day, just got here to find ButchKin waiting for me near the back door! GUESS WHAT...I'm thinking she may have had babies, or is going to?! For a while I was only seeing her every couple days, very unusual, and it was only briefly to hide as many whole nuts as I would give her. Now the last couple or few days I'm seeing her daily, and she's eating, and I'm starting to see nipples more visible and peeking out...

Just took this of her a couple minutes ago

It would seem weird to most people to use the word "exquisite" to describe a squirrel, BUT, we here are not most people!! Exquisite is what comes to mind when I see ButchKin, she's just gorgeous. I hadn't seen her for a couple days again, and she was just here eating. She actually sat with me and ate. I see nipples poking out...
