Make the world a better place...one animal at a time
The Peace of Wild Things
BY WENDELL BERRY
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

Thank you all. I was worried everyone would just hate me for leaving that baby skunk.
Oh CSL, no one would hate you. I know your heart was hurting for that little skunk and as Sweeper said, your hands were somewhat tied as you could not find any local help. You have such a tender heart for the animals that cross your path and no one that reads your posts can doubt that.

Thank you all so much, I appreciate it.
From a couple days ago, here's beautiful ButchKin
I keep telling her that her mom let me pet her, but her look says "that's nice...but you're not touching me!"

I just peeked out and saw ButchKin sitting up on the barrel, having a snack. She's a hard working single mom, just trying to have some dinner and alone time, away from the kids. I love this girl.

I only wish I were able to sit close to her and stroke her soft fur. She said no, lol!!
ButchKin looks very happy in this moment to enjoy some snacks and peace near you.

I saw one of the cutest things I've ever seen this morning, and did not have my phone or video camera to capture it!! I walked out into the backyard, heading for the garage, when I saw ButchKin with a baby on her back, piggyback riding!! This baby was the smallest I've seen, and was trying their hardest to stay close to ButchKin. ADORABLE (ya, she had enough and wanted baby off her, lol, coming, over to me for a treat)

Let me know if any of you want to play my new game with me, it's called "Opossum, Squirrel or Rat." It's where you guess which one I'll see when I look out the back door...
I'm telling you, it's a real crap shoot, all three have been spotted today alone!!

I think someone's tail is not working
From what I've seen in recent days, anyway, I don't think it's working/moving.
I need a closer look at his face for confirmation, but it's at least a possibility that it's my Peanut.
Peanut had a mark on his mouth from his injuries when he was younger, so that's what I was going to look for in this guy.
I don't know how that works, what happens for a tail to go limp, but if this IS Peanut, is it possible it's related to his initial injuries from long ago?
Remember when Peanut was pretty young, I'm sure it had to be a seizure I saw him have? It took you guys (Tubedriver? tomcics?) to notice up close in video it appeared he was recovering from a bad head gash?
I'll let you know if I figure out for sure which guy this is. Would you all say a little prayer for him and his tail, and his safety/well being?
Is it possible it is the end of his tail that is dragging down the rest of it? Somehow the end looks different than what is closer to his body. From the arrow to the end of his tail looks like it might be dying.

It does look like that, looks different. I wonder if it's possible the issue is just with that part? Maybe part will die off? I will try for better pics, and try keeping an eye on him.
Thank you

I seen this old post from Nancy on another thread:
'Yes, something happened to his tail where he can no longer put it up. Very possibly a fall. I had one once that fell and his tail was dragging. BUT he was gotten to the vet immediately and put on prednisone which reduced the swelling around that area.
Not sure if the use of his tail will come back.'
