Well, "works" is a relative term. The paralysis may not be cured but you're probably saving a life and helping with pain.

The switch to rodent blocks is an absolute must. Just want to be clear. And HHBs are what just about everyone settles on after experimentation and shopping around. We don't work for them, honest! It's just that a squirrel no longer in the wild has specific needs and these are formulated just for squirrels. They also contain, among many things, the proper form of vitamin D which also factors into calcium absorption and squirrels generally otherwise can't get because in nature they get it from the sun. Some people prefer full spectrum lights, but that's a real pain. (Btw, DON'T give your squirrel vitamin D for humans, it's VERY dangerous.)

I am aware that the paralysis may not clear up, but it IS worth a try.

Personally I would get growth formula for her this time.

    I don't feed pine nuts.

One of the things I consider is the calciumhosphorous ratio of the foods I feed. Too much phosphorous can negate the calcium needed for healthy bones.

Pine nuts contain VERY, VERY high levels of phosphorous!

Well, if you get Henry's MBD treatment kit (as recommended), you will also get a bag of the picky eaters. If there's no problem with those, you can go with the adult (seeing that she's over 9 months, right). Or, probably optimally, as suggested, go with growth for the first month or so (1 bag = 1 month - keep them in the fridge or freezer). The reason the picky eaters are in with the MBD kit is because it's assumed that the MBD squirrels will have been being fed a delicious diet of nuts, bread, and assorted junk. Health blocks are less delicious and so they may need to be offered something to get them to the regular blocks. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though, there's nothing less nutritious about the picky eaters, they're just more expensive.

HHB blocks and MBD treatment very important but HYDRATION is also very important!!!! Get the tums in her immediately and keep her well hydrated. Print out the list that states GOOD/FAIR/POOR/Evil food stick with the good and fair column. 75% of the diet should be hhb blocks, 20% fruits and veg, 5% good nuts (walnuts/pecans). The senior members on this sight are very knowledgeable and informative. This web site has saved my Pixie several times. Good luck and keep us posted! I believe that Ferrali gave you a bunch of great websites earlier in this post to get all that you need!

And the MBD section. You might want to start emergency treatment if she hasn't been paralyzed for long.

My pleasure. Hopefully this will be the MBD thread where I help out and its not too late to save a life.

Wow, four months? That opens up a whole different discussion about formula which you might want to get into later. Many people here recommend offering formula (Fox Valley) for as long as they'll take it. But that's for after you get the Tums going and ordered the HHBs.

    Btw, pictures are always appreciated!

I'm going to try to get some pictures tonight. I gave her goats milk till she would no longer take it. I should just get the whole MBD kit, right?

I should have the pictures tomorrow or the day after. I will try to get clear pictures for you. by the way... she has some reddish pink raised spots on both of her back legs. one of them was open last night, but this morning, it was almost gone. do you have any idea what it might be? I will get some pictures of that, too.

Yes to the kit if possible, but please start the Tums treatment right this minute. Tonight! I almost lost my Sammy to this and I learned that it can be turned around, but it takes immediate vigilant care. No skimping. Follow it to the letter or she is doomed.
