This is my first post so it will be a long one. 2 weeks ago tomorrow, a man brought a "baby pitbull" to the local humane society where I volunteer, after the fact, it was discovered that this baby was actually a pinky squirrel. I was elected to care for it so I did. I wasn't sure he would survive because he had been cold, and laying in the man's yard. I eventually found your site and it helped tons!!!
But today on my walk home from school, I'm in highschool, but I've been raising orphans, never squirrels though, since I was 13. Anyway, my town isn't squirrel friendly, and atleast once a week there is a new story going around of torturing squirrels. But Anyway, that is different matter. On the sidewalk there was a dead squirrel, and I felt sad since I now know how loving little squirrels can be (Thanks to my baby Colombus). But then I saw movement and a little crying baby squirrel poked it's head out. It's eyes are open and it's covered in fleas. So I picked up the baby and carried him the whole way home. When I got home I called a rehabber, because silly me thought he had lice, but now that I know it's just fleas and read more, I kind of want to keep him with colombus. But of course colombus doesnt even have all his fur, and this little guy doesn't trust me at all. And since I'm in highschool, I need my mom's permission to raise him. I basically just need advice on how to get him to trust me, and if I could put their cages side by side or wait til the fleas are gone first.
Thanks for any advice I get =)
