injured wild squirrel cant move its rear legs please help I can be reached at 513-330-8055 im in ohio
we have it in dog kennel in basement not really sure what to do for it we fed it and slid some water in it definatly is not fond of people
First - Warmth, dark & quiet. Do you have a heating pad you can place under half of cage on low. Put some bedding in there such as old t shirts or sheets that he can bury into. Nothing like towels that they can get their nails hung on.
Hopefully someone with experence in your area will be on here shortly, keep checking back.
If you have something smaller you can put him into so as to limit too much movement would also be better. Any idea what happened to hm?
the neighbors dog got hold of him.he is very alert this morning,he ate a slice of apple doing the night he is not moving his hind legs or tail at all.He also seemed a lot less aggitated this morning im not sure if thats good or bad.He has a name my kids started calling him sass stands for secret agent super squirrel.i really need to find someone who can care for it.With work and 5 kids i dont have the time.Plus it doesnt help that I am a tad bit scared of it.
Bumping this for our Ohio Rehabbers. Just hang on and someone will come to this poor baby's rescue

gave it sme apple and peanut butter it loved it how much should it eat
For now, offer it water and a plate of veggies. If you have any avacado, remove the skin and chop it up. Broccoli, kale, carrot, cauliflower, etc. Nuts and seed are junk food, so should not be a primary offering. Fruit will distract him from eating healthy.
He may also lap at some yogurt or Ensure. I'd offer him as much as he wants of the healthy food until a local rehabber can help you.

I finally found someone on that list to take him.We took him to her today. She wasnt expecting one so big she was used to babies but she was so good with him she got him into a carrier and even got him to take a grahm cracker from her to cal, hi, down guess it helps when your not scared.I feel i left him in good hands.I got to see a few of her babies thre and waych her fed one it was interesting.Im going to call her in a few days to check on him.
good job, acarpenter. And I don't blame you for being scared -- I've raised about 150 squirrels at this point and adult injured squirrels still scare the bejeesus out of me. I hate pain.
