introduction - help please

I have a red squirrel in my front yard which appears to have a broken back leg (maybe the whole hip). What should I do? We live in an area with red, gray and black squirrels - which I like, but this guy looks bad. I don't think he'll make it through the night. Can anything be done, or do I put him out of his misery (sounds bad I know)? If anyone can provide advice I'd appreciate such. An adult animal.
