hmm how much would you need?
I still think the issue is the formula and underfeeding. I would give 3:1 formula and give 6-7 ccs per feeding 4 times a day. I had issues with my foxers getting diarrhea with the new Esbilac formula when I gave them 2.5:1 formula.
SQUIRRELS RULE AND BUNNIES TOO!
Just a fresh sample. If you want me to do it, PM me and I'll give you directions. And with all due respect to SR&BT, diluting the formula more AND increasing the amount is counter-intuitive.Originally Posted by GuardianEarth
well I am going to try S&B's for a bit
I have to go to a house without internet for 2 days so I will be doing her thing until I get back and I will tell you the results.
didn't you say you live in florida?
I can't drive there *___* I am in illinois
You can mail poop.Originally Posted by GuardianEarth

anyway I will post her updated status in a bit
dinner time!
Okay so she has been on 6.5 ccs 3:1 for about two days now though she hasn't pooped much.
It still wasn't solid so I will see how it is in the morning
She has gained 2 grams though and opened her eyes xD
if I ever get the camera connected I will show you guys.
My thoughts were not counter-intuitive! The dilluting of the formula is to help with the diarrhea, which I think is related to the concentration of the formula. If it is more dilluted and he is digesting it more fully he will gain weight! I also feel that this baby needs to be eating more, so I recommended increasing the amount per feed.Originally Posted by PBluejay2
I have 8 little eyes closed foxers right now that weigh 60-90 grams. They have all been gaining 3-4 grams a day on 3:1 formula and they get from 4-6 ccs (depending on their weight) four times a day.
Guardian Earth, have you started giving your little guy any regular food? That will most likely clear the diarrhea up if it is formula related. I would try him with some avocado and bananas chopped real small so he can just suck it down and not choke (they try to suck everything down instead of chewing at his age).
So, how much does she weigh now, 102 grams?
PBluejay, you would have to refridgerate a stool sample if mailing it from IL to FL wouldn't you? If you don't you will get all kinds of bacterial growth on it just from the shipping time and heat, etc.
SQUIRRELS RULE AND BUNNIES TOO!
It would probably be better to overnight the sample, as I suggested to PF, but the three days it might take to snail mail it won't affect the results. Bacteria doesn't show up at the magnification you use to look for parasites anyway.Originally Posted by squirrelsrule&bunniestoo
I see so how much do you need?
@ S&B
yeah I am going to the store later to get her some soft fruit like peeled grapes and apples and things like that
she ius around 100 because she lost 5 then 2 than staid steady for a few than has been gaining weight consistantly for 3 days ^^
I'm glad she's doing better. How are the poops? I usually ask for 8-10 pellets so I can do more than one fecal to double check, but if hers are still soft, send what you have, as much as you can from one "healthy" (meaning substantive) poop. PM me for my address.Originally Posted by GuardianEarth
yeah I got to see her go today and it was better but still Toothpastish
I will try to grab her poop but sometimes she goes when I am not looking and I end up having to clean her up.
what would you like it in a plastic bag? little box?
How is the little guy doing today? Is he enjoying his new foods? Did he gain weight?
A very good rehabber has dug into the esbilac situation and come up with a hopefully good fix. The formula is higher in protein due to the new processing technique, which offsets the protein to fat ratio and in order for it to be balanced, more fat must be added. You can do that by adding heavy cream to the formula. Heavy cream is milk fat and you can get it with the coffee creamer, milk, that type stuff. You want to check the ingredients and make sure milk fat is the number one ingredient and NOT skim milk. I can only find the one with skim milk as the number one ingredient around here , but others have had success finding the right one. You mix the formula 2:1 and then add one part heavy cream to it. Hopefully that will correct the diarrhea situation. Since the formula will be very rich then, you only want to feed 5% of his body weight. He may not poop much either because the formula is highly digestable with not much waste . Hopefully this will clear up his diarrhea and get him gaining weight like he should be (5-6 grams a day is how much he should be gaining a day at least).

You need to put it in a Ziplock plastic bag to keep it from drying out. Add a few drops of sterile water or saline to keep it moist.Originally Posted by GuardianEarth
okay ^^ baby is still gaining in weight
That's always a good thing! but we need to figure out what's causing the soft stool. Parasites are only one possibility (but a significant one). Again, PM me, and I'll send my address and get the results back ASAP.Originally Posted by GuardianEarth
darn it my baby was steadily gaining weight but now she is taking a dip again.
She lost 1gram for 2 days though I have been feeding her 3:1 6.5ccs four times a day
I am going to try and start the new cream adding so she gets that fat she needs so I will tell you what happens ^^
