Hello....
I am new to rehab and we had two grey squirrels come to us this past season with the same symptoms. Bloody-runny nose, wheezing with labored (clicking) breathing. We moistened the dried blood around the nose with warm cotton soaked in saline water. And kept flushing them internally with Padialyte. At first it appeared as though the injury came from falling out of a tree. Causing damage to the face...However, we also suspected it might be poisoning from perhaps digesting poisoned food purposefully put out to remedy a squirrel infestation...???
Has anyone else ever had these symptoms in a grey squirrel? If so, did we do the right thing in caring for the ailment? Out of the two we had w/this exact problem, one survived and one didn't. However, in the one that died we think was caused by stress (see post of 'Territory'-grey squirrels- and also new thread of 'Stressed Squirrels & Territory Trouble' ). Thank you for your time & attention in this matter. ~K
