    Default acorns?

I am new here and have a question about acorns. I have several oak trees in my yard, mostly live oaks. I see right now there are alot of green acorns on the ground. Are the green acorns toxic? How do you get acorns for a squirrel? Are they safe? In what amounts and at what age?

    Thanks,
    Jacey

Green acorns are fine. Gather as many as you can, rinse them off, and stick them in the freezer. I don't even thaw them out - just give them an acorncicle! I try to gather enough so that I can feed acorns all year. One warning, though - acorns will usually make their pee a darker color, and will definately give it a strong odor!

Already we have hickory nuts, black walnuts, pecan nuts, peanuts, hazel nuts, oak nuts, beech nuts, chestnuts.......and now you're here!
