Large lump above nose — possibly abscess?
Hi again everyone,
I’ve been noticing a lump slowly swelling on one of my wild black eastern greys, Piko. It’s right above her nose but below her eyes. Nothing has changed in her behaviour, and she’s still eating and drinking well.
Piko is one of the squirrels who has started the mating ritual that I posted about the other day. She’s been a little more aggressive to the other dominant female squirrel (who also started the mating chase). Piko used to be more passive before the mating chases.
She’s still really sweet with me and will come up to my hand for a nut.
I was reading through other posts and I think it’s an abscess from what I can gather. I think that means she might need antibiotics? I don’t have any pets, so I don’t have access to a vet for some Clavamox or Baytril. Are there alternatives?
What do you think? Here are stills from a video. I’m sorry they’re kind of blurry, she wouldn’t stay still!

Thanks so much in advance! ❤️
Re: Large lump above nose — possibly abscess?
The lump is still there but no longer getting bigger. It’s not getting smaller either, but I’m taking it as a good sign that it’s stopped swelling. Still not sure what the bump is, but her behaviour hasn’t changed. I’ll continue to give her HHBs!

Piko is still doing fine but now there’s a wound where the lump is. She very kindly posed for a picture today!

The lump looks like it’s in a different spot, but it could’ve been the light playing tricks on me.
I still don’t know what could be affecting her, but she’s still being a squirrel so I think that’s good!
