Hi I heard a screaming today and found a baby squirrel on the floor in my addition and it's mama angrily chirruping at me from atop the insulation in the ceiling. I called animal control, but they just put the baby out back and refused to take the squirrels away. I brought the baby right back in (it's got fur coming in and is about 4 inches long without tail but eyes are still closed) and put it on a tee shirt on the floor in the addition. BUT I'm trying to sell the house and need to get the squirrels out, pronto!

Who is a humane squirrel trapper or rescue group in the NYC area?

Thanks!

Wally

Okay,

After the animal control guy left the little infant outback, we brought it back in to the addition, put it on a soft tee shirt in a clear plastic box, and this morning, the little guy is gone. Mama came and got him in the night.

Now, what are the chances of her having moved out because her nest was disturbed, taking her little ones with her?

Don't laugh too hard! I admit I'm grasping at straws here.

I would say a good chance she will relocate the family, BUT it might not be in a spot that's good for you again...Depends on what is available "real estate" for Momma...

wally, you've got to find out where momma got INTO your house n the first place and close it up immediately. She probably set up her nest somewhere else, but that doesn't mean another squirrel might not find their way in there over the next few days. Plug up the opening either with wood or 'hardware cloth', a metal mesh available at any Home Depot or Lowe's.
