Help....ok I am going out today, and would like to come home with proper lights...I called my local supplier, and his full spectrum screw in bulbs are on back order., and I am uncomfortable waiting.Impatient!
My main question is "what does the wattage have to do with it? I found bulbs
that fit the other specs...I think
18 watts
94+ CRI
5900 Kelvins
1150 Lumens
This is called Blue Max Bulb, is this correct?, these specs. I have to have several for different locations...and how big of area do these cover?
Also found same bulb but 14 watts, any info would help. I hate returns! Thank you ...j:D

:goodpost thanks gamma
Hi Jackie,
The wattage of any bulb is just a rating tells you how much power the light
uses. With incandecents, yes it generally means that a 100w lamp is
brighter than a 30w right? But with ballasted or self ballasted lights that's
not always the case.
I wouldn't worry about it.
Gammas specs are right on for simulated visual daylight. 5000k is pretty much
like noon-day sun and a CRI of 90 or greater (natural sunlight being 100)
means the amount of colors that you can see compared to real sunlight.
The intensity or brightness of the lamp (lumens) should be considered when
you place it. If you go with a light that happens to be brighter that the
one Gamma is suggesting, you may want to back it up a bit. The idea is
to simulate NATURAL daylight in the critters environment. There's intruments
that can tell you exactly how bright the light is in the cage, but I say use
common sense and place it accordingly.

Thanks Roto, glad to hear from you and that your little one is doing great, I've been following his updates!:thumbsup
I live in the town where OTT is. Tampa ....Have talked to them extensively. They will sell This 17w bulb to us for $39.00. plus s&h. I found this bulb in it's new box at Home DEpot for $19.99...Call and confirmed with OTT...it is "the right bulb". The one Gams is always telling us is her favorite...It is cheaper than any where else...this I know because I shopped, I have purchash several so saving money is of essence. 20 instead 0f 40...yeah! Sweet! So here it is! The New Box{same bulb}sold with all other bulbs, you know "the bulb aisle"
Thank you Jackie! :bowdown I'm on my way to Home Depot. I was heading out the door to go to the Tuxedo store (prom night) and Home Depot is in the same shopping center. :wott

Gams...I am sometimes suspect, so I usually investigate way more than normal....but...I borrowed one for 3 days....to try it...{I am weird aren't I}....but I gotta tell you, Rocky started being chippy'ier, happier, playing around , rolling etc. playing with toys, So I bought a bunch of 'em for everyone...even Freds dang turtle{Sucatta} got a new one!
I am jealous that 4s found for cheaper. Good thing HD is close, so no gas $$ involved. Thanks for being patient and understanding...and sharing!
Did I hear something about replacing often?....does this mean before it burns out? Like 'shelf life' kinda? So many hours and then no sense in using because the umph is gone , or replace when burns out.?:thankyou :thankyou
Gamma, I searched Home Depot on-line, but I could not find OTT lites. I did find the custom service number... 1-800-430-3376 :thumbsup http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ContentView?pn=Customer_Support&langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053

and hugs and kisses from all who'll be benefiting.
The SKU# at HD is 143-378 and the bar code # is761712103204.
If you call your local HD, they will want the SKU#.
Hope this helps.:)
I got OTT lites. :wottI just about gave up on finding them at Home Depot because the were not on the light bulb aisle. I found them in the light fixtures section. They are in a box labeled for growing plants.
