This may seem a little silly but.. is it normal for babies to get hiccups after feeding? Olive gets them sometimes. Is there anything I can do to relieve them? Should I try and feed her slower? :dono

I don't know if this really works or if i just get luky...one of my ferrets gets the hiccups, so when he does i hold him with his nose close to my mouth and i blow in his nose, gently like you would blow on a cut...it works everytime but like i said don't know if it's just luck...hope this helps..:crazy

Also, are you shaking the Esbilac to mix it? That creates a lot of air bubbles in the formula.

I make sure there arent any bubbles in the syringe when I feed her. I make it fresh every time i feed her and I use a fork to mix it up. However she tends to gulp it down really fast so I have to hold the push part back when I feed her so she doesnt aspirate. Maybe when I do this air gets in? :thinking I tried burping her like a baby, haha, i was lightly tapping her back. It didnt seem to work though. Shes about 5-6 weeks, is it too early to wean her to a bottle? I have small bottles, but they are still much larger than what I feed her. So I am afraid when she sucks through the nipple that she will get even more air in her belly.
Hello I been reading about your baby and sure hope all turns out well. Are you using a Nipple at end of the syringe? If so then I would try removing it No nipple then that way you can regulate drop by drop wouldn't this work better? That way seems to me baby wouldn't be able to suck so fast. ( I am No Rehabber)

Gamma-You think maybe shes not breathing enough when shes eating? or do you mean shes getting air in her belly that way? I dont know im starting to get worried because shes not eating very well today. :( shes eating about half of her normal amount. i hope shes ok. shes being going to the bathroom and all, so i dunno. i dont wanna lose her now! shes made it this far! Thanks though any kind of input helps! :thankyou
Skye- I dont use a nipple at the end, and i have been doing my best to keep her from sucking it down so fast.

Olive...don't switch her to a bottle.....there is no way to control the flow in a bottle. Keep her on the syringe and use a nipple.
You may want to decrease the time between feedings...so she won't gulp her food.
I heard that you can successfully burp a squirrel by rubbing and patting their back while the squirrel is in an up right position. But I have never tried it. Good luck and hiccups aren't life threatining.....thank God !!!:thumbsup
