Hi guys, I just thought I would let you know that my little babies are doing well so far... I got the powder milk replacer and that seems to be working great! They have gained weight but one of my questions is how do I know if they have bloat or if there little bellies are just fat? I just changed to a new syringe that is a 5ccs and I dont give them all of it. They are going number one and two ok but some times they dont go.

Also, there eyes arnt open yet but should be any day now. I was wondering how old they are until there little legs arnt so wobbly. If I let them on the rug there back legs are very weak. (is that normal?) I feel like its that they arent used to there legs yet and they are just to little for them to be strong yet... They almost use there front legs for everything and just drag the back.... I just want to catch MBD early so that I dont loose them if that might be the case.... What do you think? Let me know what you think. I guess I just worry about them all the time. I just want them to be healthy and happy. Thanks for your imput!

A 5cc syringe is much too big to be feeding an eyes closed baby with. The larger the syringe the larger the volume of formula you are squirting with each tap. To avoid aspiration accidents I recommend using a 0.5 cc syringe for babies under 50grams. A 1cc syringe for babies 50 to 100 grams and a 3cc syringe for babies over a 100 grams. I do not reach for a 5cc syringe unless baby is over 200 grams and this is rare for most babies are weaning (unless it is a foxer:D ) by the weight. :)
