PeeWee normaly sleeps most of the night. Last night he was too busy eating to sleep. This morning, first feed, he begged for more formula. He never does that. I gave him 4 more cc's (on top of his usual 20) and he felt a lil plump so that's all he got. He looked everywhere for that syringe and then tried to nurse my hand cuz it had formula on it. When I tried to put him back in his cage he kept oinking at me and refused to let go. He continued to oink at the door when I walked a few feet away. Then he went to the food bowl and started eating?!
This is the way much of our day has gone. He acts like he's starving to death. Every feeding he wants more formula and he remains clingy. He sits with his front legs out of the cage, his lil hands opening and closing as if to say "come get me." It's breaking my heart and it's driving me up a wall. He's never been this interested in me.
Vet's gone til Wednesday but I talked to her. She said he just wants out of the cage. I'm not buying that. Any ideas besides that I'm imagining things? I'm thinking worms?! Why else would he eat like this?
Other than the obsessive eating I can't find anything wrong. Poop's fine. Pee's fine. Gums are a nice even pink. No signs of dehydration. I'd give ya a weight but my damn scale, of all days, took a vacation. I thought it had dead batteries til I tried to plug it in. Dead. I checked him all over. He doesn't act as if his belly is bothering him and it feels okay too. And no, he's not clicking, coughing, choking or sneezing. Surely this can't be normal, can it?

How old is he now? Could he be teething? That can really make them cranky and "babyish" He may be in pain and needing his mommy.

He may just want the "comfort" of being fed. Try putting him in your shirt pocket. Just "wear" him for a while.

He's bout 9 weeks.... but he hasn't been raised to cling to people. That's what bothers me most.

Probably teething. His toofies are hurting and he wants "comfort" more than food probably. Why don't you just keep him in a pocket or something, until he's over it. Maybe a rice buddy just for comfort.

Excellent. The healthy appetite tells us he probably isn't "sick." But if he needs extra comfort and cuddling, I'd give it to him. Poor lil' baby needs his mommy. You might check his gums. If they look sore or swollen, you could try rubbing your finger over them. Maybe a bit of something cold to suck on....

One more thing, do you add cream to his formula? If not, this might be a good time to add it, as he could be going through a growth spurt and need some extra calories (LynninIn's idea). The normal Esbilac dilution actually has a lot less fat than momma's milk, so.....

I usually add 1 part heavy whipping cream or Multimilk, and a dash of rice cereal.
