My first question is why is all this stuff happening right before he goes to a new home?

Secondly, Wart has been out running around today. Nothing unusual. I cleaned his cage this morning and one of the newspapers (black and white) had a funny red brown urine stain on them. I didn't panic but have kept an eye on him.

Now the bizarre thing. He has been running around and peed on the dresser top. No biggie. I wipe it up right away. The stain on the paper towel is a normal light yellow. After this has happened three times already, I threw the latest paper towel away. I noticed in the garbage, all of the other paper towels I had used previously now how a red-brown tinge to them.

Other than acting normal, I think he is a little dehydrated. We've just stopped formula and I don't think he likes water yet. Running out to get pedilyte now.

Is this normal? Could it be from sweet potatoes and dehydration, or is this a boy-growing-up thing?

Thanks for advise!

roguetiger, dehydration will give them darker-colored urine. So will acorns, if you've been feeding him any. See if the Pedialyte stops it after a few feedings. :)

Oh yeah, before anyone asks:

He is (I think) about 11 weeks old
Nothing has changed in his diet (except that he favors sweet potato, apples, bananas and a tiny bit of avocado) over everything else. (collards, tomatoes, broccoli, carrots, celery, radishes, hard boiled egg)
He has had 2 acorns over the past 2 days
He has been grinding down a walnut for the past 3 days
He was given a homeopathic treatment of phosphorus to help clear up that cough ((Note: please don't try before consulting with Mars directly))
For whatever reason, he has been grooming himself more, especially his face since that cough.

Thought this might help.

Oh yeah! I found the oldest paper towel that had been used earlier this morning and the dried stain was more of an Ocher Yellow/light brown color. Might be worth noting.

Ah ha! This is my suspicion. I will update after a few pedilyte treatments.

Geeze, so much work being a mother! :D
