Our dog had a baby squirrel in her mouth, we caught her, got the squirrel and are attempting to care for it. Please look at pic and help me determine age. It appears to have an injured leg, not able to walk on it, had a small puncture wound on belly, not very deep, bleeding slightly. We've had the baby about an hour, keeping it warm in small pet carrier. Help!

I would say its about... 5-6 weeks?
A rehabber will be her shortly :thumbsup Thanks for helping the baby.
DO you have it on a heating pad?

hi there!
GB gave you a load of excellent basic information- please read through it all carefully, as it includes several small tips that can be the difference between life and death. ;)
for the wound, time is of the essence. you should flush out the wound with water to dilute any bacteria. remove any debris from the wound- make sure it is clean. remember, some bleeding is a good sign; it's all part of the healing process.
if you can get bacitracin cream or ointment, put a thin layer on the wound. next look for tegaderm transparent patches at a pharmacy to cover the wound (you wouldn't need a large one, it sounds like, and they're cheap).
if you don't have this stuff, keep the wound clean until you do. keep the baby warm, and keep it away from loud noise and other animals.
keep her in a box with fleece, not a cage- she shouldn't be encouraged to use that back leg.
thank you SO much for taking this little one in- more pictures (esp. of the underside/belly/injuries) would be appreciated!
Do you think the leg may be broken?
