I was wondering if Max's nail will grow back once it has completely fallen off?

He lost the far left outside nail on the left paw, the entire thing..... and it is on his bad paw that was once hurt (he still has some difficulties with it) so I also wonder if it is part of what caused him to loose movement in that paw at one time and that took his sisters life?

Ok - I just looked at Max's left foot and he has now lost the toe nail next to the first nail that fell off.... and he is loosing his fur on that paw as well.

What could this be? - I do not want to loose Max after loosing Mia. :(

...I will try to take a PIC of it.

Sorry, but this is the best PIC I could get Max to stay still for........ as you can see the first two toes from the bottom up are missing fur and they are the ones that do not have toes nail any more. The third toe is starting to loose fur as well and I am afraid the toe nail on there will fall off like the other two have.

ANY IDEAL?

Is there any swelling or discoloration? :thinking

No - every thing else is fine..... but he often pulls the arm to his side and especially after he uses it to climb with or run on - he did this prior to the nails falling off.

Sometimes nails grow back, sometimes not and sometimes they grow back quite deformed.
Since you're in a squirrel friendly state, I think a visit to the vet is in order. A squirrel needs his nails in a big way and if this progresses to the point that he looses even one more on that hand he may not be releasable.

Yeah - that is what I have been thinking to....... I just wish some one knew some thing they could tell me, for Monday seems like a long to wait for an answer, but wait I will.

My first thought is a may be fungal. But it is a guess. I'm not sure that would account for her favoring the leg. I think a vet's eyes and expertise is called for here.
