In this picture the light discoloration on the affected foot is formula.

This is the 'rest' of him. This missing hair doesn't seem to affect him anywhere else.

Since PeeWee started eating...or rather 'sucking on' real food....THIS has happened. I don't know if the two things are related but I distinctly remember him sucking on a grape and then vigorously cleaning this foot when he got sticky grape yuck on his foot from holding the grape down to suck on it.
I've checked his cage. I've watched him for hours at a time hoping to reveal the possible source of the problem. Nothing. It doesn't appear to be bothering him, itching him, and he's not favoring it in the slightest. I can't catch him licking it either.
He's never been exposed to other animals and washing of hands, etc is done thoroughly EVERY time I so much as put my hands near is cage. He's still being fed formula....four times a day.... 15-18 cc's. He's picking at grapes, cheerios, pumkin seeds and skinned apple.
It did get larger initially( you can barely see it in the 10-3 pic, but it doesn't seem to be "growing' now. It's not 'fuzzing over' and it doesn't appear flakey, extremely dry or scaley. I've checked him thoroughy for mites and fleas..with a magnifying glass. He's also treated periodically with Adams flea spray. I just don't know. I just wanted to let you guys look at it and see what you think before I run up another vet bill. I have NO problem at all taking 'Wee' to the vet, don't get me wrong. I really just don't want to take him over something simple just because I'm paranoid....and that spot on my baby boy's foot is bothering me A LOT!

I will let the rehabbers give you advice from looking at the pictures, but just wanted to point out that Preacher has just recently been posting that BH's back feet have mysteriously gone bald. In that case also, they don't seem to be bothering her, but .... no fur. Just thought you might want to compare notes and see if there is anything in common.

Since you mentioned formula on her foot, let me suggest that you take care to wipe it off when he is done eating as "leftover" formula can cause the fur to come off (more frequently a facial thing). However, this may not have anything to do with the fur -- BH is an adult squirrel and not getting formula.

I hope you solve the mystery!

hello....Preacher here
I still don't have a clue about BH's feet...but if I could suggest just a touch of neosporen? Not much...I use it on BH since a baby & never had any problems...just thinking in case it is some type of minor infection this would help.
BH's problem seemd to be radically different...but she doesn't seem to be bothered by it either..
Hope your little friend gets better real soon...
preacher & the ever lovable BH!!!
