I first found this board a few years back when my neighbor gave me two baby squirrels that were in a nest of a tree cut down. They were TINY! Two weeks old tops. Things went great with them though eventually after release, they moved on to new territory. (I am NOT entertaining the other possibilities. ;) ) I stopped visiting this board only because it made me miss them so dearly. But today, my neighbor brought me a baby squirrel he found in the street! I am guessing he is about four weeks old. He was in good shape for laying in the road - no injuries. Some bugs but not infested, thank goodness. Was hungry of course I'm just hopping on to ask for any refresher tips others may have. One question - do I need a heating pad for him? He's got his fur and we've had really warm weather (in Maryland) but haven't turned on our ac so house feels warm. He's got bedding of course. Thanks!

In genera, they stop needing heat about a week after their eyes open.
Best thing to do is offer heat by placing a heating pad (no auto-shut off) placed on "low" setting under 1/2 the container. If you find they tend to stay on the side that is heated, leave the heat. Eventually they will start staying on the unheated side, it is time to remove the heat! :thumbsup

Here is another thread from today -

It is always important to make sure the pups can get off the heating pad as desired.

Thanks all. :Love_Icon I did put a heating pad(with a cover on it) in (half) his container and he curled up on it!
