Hi Everyone,
We had an incident between a kitten and a flying squirrel a few moments ago. The cat pounced as the squirrel was running and the squirrel was able to get away almost immediately. She's quite shaken from it all but I'm not seeing any obvious injuries. I know antibiotics are recommended any time a cat is involved... Can someone help me with dosing?
The flying squirrel is a female weighing 74 grams. Antibiotics available are as follows:
Bactrim DS, 800/160 MG tablets (exp. 1/17)
Cipro, 500 MG tablets (exp. 6/15)
Amoxicillin, 500 MG capsules (exp. 3/17)
Please let me know if any further information is needed.
Thanks!

What size syringes do you have? You absolutely can't use anything bigger than 1ml, but if you have a .5ml syringe sitting around it will influence how I dose this.

Hi CritterMom,
Sorry for the delay. I've been cuddling her all night and we both fell asleep. She seems to be doing OK but still pretty scared.
I have 1ml syringes. I actually have everything but .5ml.
Thanks for your help.

I wanted to provide a quick update. She seems to be doing much better. I think she was more scared than anything, but of course it's better to be safe than sorry when a cat is involved. She absolutely hates the Cipro (thanks for the warning CritterMom!) so I dipped the end of the syringe in a drop of honey. She's smart though, and didn't fall for it the second time. I ground up a nut and dipped the honey coated syringe in that and it worked. I may have to get creative for the remaining doses! At any rate she's doing well and I'll report back if anything changes.
I know I keep saying it but I truly appreciate your help CritterMom!

I have a mental picture of you approaching with the syringe, which has been coated in peanut butter and rolled in wax worms that have been taught to hold nut fragments in their little vestigial limbs...
