Is it ok to put cat liter in the cage on the bottom? She doesn't touch it, I just wanted to put it there to make the cleaning easier on the bottom. There is wire seperating Teeney from the cat liter.

The only thing I would worry about is the dust, most of those clumping litters put off a lot of dust even if they're "99%" dust free, I've read of issues with them and kittens. Also any of the clay ones would be detrimental if swallowed by accident. There are a couple natural litters even ones that clump at stores like Mud Bay that are made out of wheat or corn. And also at our pet store they have a 'litter' in the bird section that's made of ground corn cob. I would use one of these personally rather than commercial cat litters.

Thank you so much for all the info. The good thing is it is in a pan under her cage. So, she has no direct contact with it. I just thought using it would cut back on oder and also not be so wet and dirty when I clean. I have shredded newspaper in her cage to cover the wire. I just wanted to make sure it has no kind of chemicals that would harm my baby. The brand it Hartz Ph5 and it is oderless.

Purina makes a cat litter called Yesterday's News. That's what I used when I first litter box trained my pet squirrel. She didn't have any problems from it, and she played, dug and rolled in it. They also make a Yesterday's News litter for rabbits and ferrets.
